For the first 1.5 mile the trail climbs steeply through the clear-cut
along the Coldwater Lake. There is a good chance you will see elk
on this trail .
The trail climbs up to the pass, where the remains of the old logging
equipment
reminds you about the power of the 1980 eruption. Mount St. Helens
can be seen from this point .
From here the trail climbs gradually, following the old logging
road for about 1.2 mile. The rest 0.3 mile the trail gradually descends
to the junction with the Coldwater Trail #230. Here you can see
the remains of the bulldozer, destroyed in a blast .
