This short accessible trail leads through the trees to a small pretty lake. Interpretive signs along the trail tell the story of small animals and insects that survived the eruption of 1980. The north shore of the lake is covered with fallen trees , but the south shore, saved by the hill from the power of the blast, has recovered much more quickly . As you aproach the lake, take a moment to peek into the waters abandoned with life. Leading west from the lake the trail continues to a creek, where it ends. Several years ago it use to lead over a small bridge (that broke down some time ago) to Miner's Car site.
