The
trail starts at the junction with the Independence
Pass Trail #227. Follow Independence Pass Trail for 0.8 mile
to the junction and turn right (north) onto Independence Ridge Trail
#227A. At first the trail goes with little elevation change, then
it starts climbing gradually to the ridge. As you approach the ridge
you may see Mount Adams rising up in a distance. In about 0.9 mile
the trail reaches the ridge. From the ridge the trail descends quite
steeply for 0.4 mile to a junction with Boundary Trail #1. This
part of the trail provides a good view of Meta
Lake .
