In about 300 feet the trail reaches Hardscrabble Creek. Currently,
the bridge is being build a little way up the creek, and a log is
still used for creeks crossing. To the junction with Williams
Lake Trail #1030.1 (6.5 miles) the trail is in good condition
and goes along the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River with little elevation
gain. At times, when the trail comes out of the woods, a wonderful
views of the surrounding mountains opens up.
In about a mile after Hardscrabble Creek crossing the trail brings
you closer to the river site with several waterfalls. There is a
campsite there. In another 1.5 mile the trail reaches Crawford Creek,
that is difficult to cross. Look for logs and and rocks short way
up the creek. There are several campsites after the creek crossing.
The trail reaches another beautiful waterfall in about 2.5 miles.
Next 0.8 mile brings you to Camp Pedro at the base of Iron Cap Mountain.
This is a perfect place for camping with several campsites that
offer breathtaking view of the mountains and meadows. Near the bridge
there is a "pool" that is so good to swim in. In 0.7 mile the trail
reaches the junction with Williams
Lake Trail #1030.1, that goes to the left.
Main
trail continues to the right. In about 0.5 mile of steep climb the
trail reaches the river, crosses it and in another 0.5 mile brings
you to Dutch Miller Gap. From here a magnificent view of Bears Breast
Mountain on the northeast ,
Summit Chief Mountain on the southwest ,
and several waterfalls coming down into Lake Ivanhoe. Here the trail
meets with the Dutch Miller Gap Trail #1362, that goes to the right,
steeply descending to Lake Ivanhoe .
There are still some snow patches on the south lake shore, but the
campsites are snow free.
