Follow Deception
Pass Trail 1376 for 5.1 miles to the junction with Clarice Lake
Trail (at the junction look for sign Marmot
Lake).
From
the junction at the Deception Pass the trail gradually climbs along
the Blue Ridge and in 0.6 mile reaches an open rocky slope. There
are several nice campsites here near the creek. The trail continues
up hill and in 0.4 mile brings you to a pond and cozy campsites
with a view of the surrownding mountains
.
Leaving Blue Ridge the trail gradually descends for 0.4 mile to
the Hozzbizz Lake with its meadows and impressive stone amphitheater
rising high over the south-west side of the lake .
During the spring time numerous waterfalls streamdown the rocky
walls. From the lake the trail gradually descends for about 1 mile
to a creek crossing. The trail begins its ascend through the trees
and open areas that offer good views of the Deception Creek valley
and surrounding mountains. In 1.2 mile the trail crosses a creek
with a small waterfall. In 0.2 mile it reaches a Y junction with
Marmot Lake Trail 1066.1
(left fork). Clarice Lake Trail continues to the right. It gradually
descends on the rocky slope that provides good view of the valley.
In 0.8 mile the trail comes to the creek. Use the rocks to cross
it. Going uphill for 0.2 mile the trail brings you to an open rocky
area on the north side of the Lake Clarice .
This beautiful lake surrownded by the steep rocky slopes is definately
worth your effort. There is a cross-country route leading to the
summit of the Terrace Mountain
(6361 ft)
