The trail steeply climbs up Rampart Ridge for about 0.4 mile, then evens up for about 0.1 mile. From here a good view of the Box Ridge, Lila Lakes and Alta Pass opens up. The trail starts climbing again and in about 1 mile reaches the summit (6151 ft) . There is a register inside on the bigger cairn on the summit. Gorgeous views of Mount Rainier, Chikamin Peak , Huckleberry Mountain, Alaska Mountain and Alaska Lake, Mt. Thompson and Gold Creek valley open up form here.
